I teach at Los Alamitos High School (go Griffins!) in North Orange County, California. We are a suburban public school in a small district (1 high school, 2 middle schools and 6 elementaries).
In addition to teaching for three periods (AP Calculus BC and Precalculus), I serve as a Math Common Core Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) for the high school. I also act as a liaison with the 2 middle schools and the district office.
I LOVE teaching math, but admit that my teaching is a bit “old school” sometimes. I am trying to better my craft, integrate more technology and create a classroom that excites, engages and challenges my students…not a tall order at all! As TOSA, my job is to help make the “transition to common core” go more smoothly for my colleagues. I attend conferences and training sessions, plus help others come up with improved ways to deliver content.
